As the demand for mobile apps increases, federal agencies are facing a challenge to provide apps that offer what customers expect: a user experience that mirrors what they have on their personal devices and systems. The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s new Innovative GEOINT Application Provider Program, or IGAPP, provides an answer to this challenge. Rather than developing and procuring applications project-by-project, IGAPP connects agencies to a qualified pool of registered application, or app, developers. The developers create a various apps that are then tested, evaluated and measured against customers’ needs. The results of these efforts are found in NGA’s GEOINT App Store, apps.nga.mil. DoD / IC programs and employees can also submit apps and manage the app listing within the GEOINT App Store, allowing the GEOINT App Store to be the one stop shop for all apps related to GEOINT. The store also allows a user to provide feedback and rate an app or service. Ratings help drive improvements to existing apps and determine the selection of apps NGA supplies the GEOINT community.
